<p>Whilst it&#8217;s true that most occurrence of acne can be found in teenagers, it&#8217;s also true that it can have an affect on anybody, at any time of their life and let&#8217;s face it; no person likes having acne, whatever age they are. It affects their self-confidence, their self-esteem and for some patients, can even lead to depression.</p>
<p>Acne occurs when pores become blocked by oil found in the skin which is know as sebum.</p>
<p>Our bodies make more sebum when our hormones become over-active, which is why it&#8217;s a very prevalent condition in teenagers. It&#8217;s also exactly why adult females often suffer with breakouts just before their periods and why acne can quickly affect pre-menopausal women.</p>
